Unfinished business

We sure do love home improvement projects! Now that the weather is getting better, we're all about puttering outside and making our environment better. We may have to put up with the unfinishedness of it for awhile. But that's half the fun!
We went to Lowes yesterday and came home with a truck full of pavers. One side of the house gets very little sun and the grass barely grows over there, so we've decided to help it out and put stones there. We're going to stain these stones so they look more rustic and we're going to make them look flush and uniform. For now, we just plopped them down. We've asked Sophie to stand there and hold them in place. She's doing a great job so far!
I think it's funny that our fake sun is causing the plant to wilt. Wake up sun, wake up! Let your little light shine! We're going to put shade plants over there for obvious reasons. We'll see how this one does. Maybe it just has transplant shock.
Here's our other fun project. Mosaic! I love smashing tile. We've had this tile in the attic since we did the backsplash in the kitchen two years ago, and we're finally letting it live out its destiny. We had an old table frame, and Angela made the table top out of plywood and hardibacker board. She's crafty like that. So now we just have to finish smashing tile and masticking, and then we'll grout and seal. I'm so happy there is a Lowes across the street.
Home improvement projects are fun.

Random observations

I just came in from a run and I wore sloppy sweats and a roomy t-shirt. I met all sorts of people in cute little expensive workout clothes along the way. I bet I got more exercise.

One of our dogs has bad teeth and had to have seven of them pulled last week. She's had thirteen pulled total in her life. How many teeth do dogs have? She seems really happy without many teeth...like a LOT happier than a person would be.

K-Fed ruined Britney! She was okay before he came along. I just want her to buy baby clothes and play with babies and baby toys and be content. Okay, maybe that's me I want that for. I want nothing to do with K-Fed though. Or baldness.

We have so many herbs and flowers sprouting in our bedroom right now, we should really open up a greenhouse and be competition for Lowes across the street. Basil, coleus, impatiens, and jalapenos have all sprouted from seed and we have way more than we know what to do with. Why can't it be that easy to grow humans?

Grapefruit burns calories. Eat more grapefruit, and you can eat more junk!

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Toni Collette are my new favorite actors. Slyly cool, eerily confident and yet totally insecure. I love them. We watched Sherrybaby with Maggie last night. She was great. And Toni in Little Miss Sunshine? She's a supah stah! Hope that movie wins and Oscar on Sunday.

Angela is at a work function tonight and I'm bored. Can you tell? Oh, here comes the toothless dog to give me a kiss. :-) (Not totally toothless. Just tooth-challeneged.) It's a good night...

Hey stranger

Oh, wait a sec...I'm the stranger in this space. Hi! It's been awhile.

I've been blogging on the mix1029.com website and now the prideradiodfw.com website cuz it's part of my job, and these "want to" blogs are sufferin'. I'll get over here as much as I can though.

Pride Radio is kicking my butt! I've never been in charge of a whole radio station before, so all of the loading, tweaking, tightening, writing, and fixing on top of all my other regular duties makes me a bit dizzy. But at least it's up and running. I've said this before, but your input on this is invaluable! If you want us to play some weird, crazy artist that no one else will play let us know because we just might do it. Why the heck not I say. (That's my general attitude, but of course that must be tempered with radio smarts. :-D) If you hear a song you hate let us know too, because I have the power to delete it and throw it into the depths of songy hell forever and ever. :-) Seriously, take ownership of this station.

Angela is in Austin right now. Her boss is at a dental convention in Colorado, so she decided to take a couple of days away from the office too. She took Beanie with her (schnauzer #3 of 4) so our brother-in-law can clean her teeth tomorrow. Beanie's teeth, not Angela's. Beanie is fancy like that...going all the way to Austin to get some pearly whites. The truth is, she has crappy teeth and our vet gets too ambitious with pulling her teeth, and since our brother-in-law works at a vet's office we decided to get his expert opinion. Kids.

Speaking of...we're not pregnant yet. And it's really too difficult on the emotions to spend much time in blogville about it, but we're trying again in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we're prayin'!

Go Colts!

Marvin and Peyton. We're a good
team. :-)

We took a little break from making chips and queso, flautas, pigs in a blanket, and countless other munchies to pose for a pic.

I've been thinking about the Colts all day...I wonder if they're eating some helpful pre-game carbs. I wonder if they're going over their notes on Rex Grossman's tendencies right now. I wonder if they slept well. Man I'm a stalker.

Angela's Mom is in town for our little football party. She knitted herself a bad ass hat!

I think we have three Bears fans coming to the party. One of them just called and asked if we needed anything and then she asked what time she should come over. I said mouthy Bears fans can come at 5:25, but if she'll be quiet she can come at 3. Something tells me she'll walk in loud, proud, and mouthy at 2:45. Perhaps I can shove a pig in a blanket in that noise-maker at just the right moment.
Go Colts!!!
